Supporting Health and the Environment
As part of its mission, Awesome Sleep also announced the plantation of 1,000 mangrove trees in the Sundarbans in partnership with Grow Billion Trees.
Mangroves are among the most powerful natural carbon sinks on Earth. They absorb large amounts of carbon dioxide, strengthen coastal ecosystems, and act as natural barriers against cyclones and tidal surges.
The plantation took place in Sandeshkhali, North 24 Parganas, West Bengal, with species including Bean, Kakra, and Garjan. When mature, the newly planted trees are expected to sequester up to 35 tons of carbon dioxide annually, while strengthening coastal ecosystems and supporting surrounding communities.
